Biography
Gemma Abbott is a Manager in Technology, Strategy and Transformation at Deloitte, where her professional focus is on delivering complex digital health, health system transformation, and AI-enabled products and services. Her journey began with a strong foundation in life sciences and pharmaceuticals, which provided a unique, patient-centric lens as she transitioned into professional services. This perspective has since enabled her to deliver critical digital health engagements across diverse, high-stakes environments, including Health New Zealand (HNZ), the UK’s NHS, and a range of private sector clients.
Gemma's expertise is both strategic and technical. It spans from high-level digital strategy and advisory work to the design and implementation of practical, clinician-facing AI applications. Notably, she has led the development of Gen-AI patient summaries tooling for a Primary Health Organisation (PHO), a real-world example of how AI can dramatically inform clinical practice. Further demonstrating her commitment to the sector, she authored the "Healthy Systems" white paper, which explores future-focused models of care and the pivotal role of technology in sustainable healthcare delivery. Through her work, and as a leader in Women in Health Tech, Gemma is dedicated to using technology to empower a more equitable and efficient health ecosystem, a mission that deeply aligns with The AI Assembly's™ goal to educate our community on practical AI application.
