A hands-on event that builds AI culture, capability and real outcomes. People bring real problems and leave with real skills, doing AI the Right Way®. Book one in-house for your leaders or your entire team, or join one of our public AI-A-Thons™.
What is an AI-A-Thon™?
An AI-A-Thon™ is a hands-on working session where your people bring real challenges from their work and build solutions using AI — guided by our eight-pillar framework for responsible AI practice.
It is hands-on from start to finish. Your team leave having actually built something, with a practical understanding of how to use AI the Right Way® in their day-to-day roles.
No AI experience needed. Every level is welcome — from complete beginners to people already using AI tools daily.
The Eight Pillars
Build on any tool
ChatGPT · Claude · GitHub · Vercel · Copilot · Lovable · v0 · and more — your people choose what they already use.
Who it's for
Build shared AI literacy and a common language for how your team uses AI tools responsibly.
Upskill an entire department with practical, role-relevant AI skills in a single session.
Help your leaders understand AI deeply enough to make informed decisions and set the right example.
Run an organisation-wide AI day — simultaneous or staged — to build confidence and capability at scale.
The methodology
Whether your team is switching on a tool or shipping a whole project, the same three stages apply. This is how responsible AI gets done.
01
Pre Live
Know your use case. Know where your data goes. Work out privacy and governance, and be clear on who is accountable before anything is built.
02
Live
Apply the eight pillars as you go. Question the outputs, choose tools deliberately, keep a human in the loop.
03
Post
It does not end at go live. Monitor, review and update as AI changes. A switched on tool needs this ongoing attention too.
What your people will learn
What to bring
In-house for your organisation
Activate your team with a hands-on AI-A-Thon™, for your leaders or your entire team, company-wide or by department. It builds your AI culture, gets people talking, and unites your teams around AI. Go for the full day and we facilitate the whole event, finishing with mini awards for your workplace.
Typical outcomes
3 hours
The foundational AI-A-Thon™ experience. Foundations, framework and hands-on build time — ideal for teams new to structured AI practice.
6 hours
Deeper coverage, more build time, and dedicated practitioner attention. Best for departments serious about shifting how they work with AI.
Your schedule
Multi-team rollouts, industry-specific content, or ongoing series across your organisation. We'll design something that fits.
Public AI-A-Thons™
We also run public AI-A-Thon™ events, open to all skill levels. Bring a real problem from your work, study or life and build alongside our practitioners and mentors. Each public event has its own page with the date, venue and how to register.
Seen in action
Our first AI-A-Thon™ was held at the NZ IT & AI Job Forum at the University of Auckland — an afternoon session with nine industry mentors, open to all skill levels.
Attendees brought real problems from study, work and life. They worked through the AI the Right Way® framework alongside practitioners from Microsoft, the University of Auckland, Māori technology, AI engineering, and more.
The response confirmed what we already knew — people don't want another webinar. They want to actually build something, with people who know what they're doing, in a room where it's safe to ask questions.
That's what we bring to your organisation.
