Blake is going to contribute to helping build out The AI Assembly to provide some exciting new tools and services to NZ and abroad. He holds a special place in the team, helping to enable and drive us forward with his passion and vision.
With a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics from Massey University, Blake brings a unique blend of technical expertise in integrated systems, automation, and innovative problem-solving. Working at Mainpower New Zealand as an AI Engineer and running his own consultancy as well he is deeply embedded in all things AI.
From Blake’s expertise, our community will gain invaluable insights into building features to showcase AI tools and safety to NZ and abroad. Keep your eyes out and get a chance to learn directly from someone actively working on the tools and resources that will support the narrative we share from diverse backgrounds and how they are navigating their AI journeys.
Biography
Our next AI Assembler has joined the team — welcome Blake Harkness to our team as our Industry Contributor - AI Engineer at The AI Assembly™. With a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics from Massey University, Blake brings a unique blend of technical expertise in integrated systems, automation, and innovative problem-solving.
Currently serving as an AI Engineer at MainPower, runs his own consultancy and now onboard with THe AI Assembly to help shape the way forward with our big vision and goals.
Blake's commitment to community and the future of AI is further demonstrated through his volunteer work. He is an AI Advisory Committee Member for Engineering New Zealand and an AEC Working Group Contributor for the AI Forum NZ. This active involvement in shaping the industry has also earned him a nomination as a finalist for the Rising AI Star Award from the AI Forum NZ, recognising his impact as an emerging talent.
Blake's journey is a powerful testament to the fact that you don't need decades of experience to make a significant impact. His ability to navigate both traditional engineering and cutting-edge AI development makes him a perfect guide for anyone starting their AI journey, from a student to an established professional.
