We are delighted to welcome Dr Abi Beatson, AI Communications, Client & Project Coordinator at Archipanion, as our featured speaker.

Archipanion is a team of nine AI specialists, archivists, and software engineers dedicated to advancing the responsible use of AI across archives, libraries, and museums. Headquartered in Switzerland, the team operates internationally, with staff based around the world, including in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Abi will share real-world examples of how AI is transforming search within cultural heritage collections. This includes:

• Enabling researchers to explore large image and video archives more effectively

• Using AI-driven metadata extraction to unlock fast, collection-wide search across digitised documents

She will also share some of her favourite ways she uses AI in her everyday work.

About Dr Abi Beatson

Dr Abi Beatson is the AI Communications, Client & Project Coordinator at Archipanion.

She was previously:

• Communications and Engagement Coordinator at National and State Libraries Australasia (NSLA)

• COVID-19 Digital Archivist at the National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ)

Her academic background focuses on emerging technologies, including:

• A PhD from Victoria University of Wellington

• A Postdoctoral Fellowship at Massey University

Both completed in Wellington, New Zealand.
