The AI in Aotearoa 2026 Survey is operated by The AI Assembly®, a New Zealand profit-for-purpose social enterprise focused on building national AI capability and literacy.

Purpose of this survey

The purpose of this survey is to better understand how people across Aotearoa New Zealand feel about artificial intelligence, including levels of use, confidence, and concern.

The information collected will be used to produce aggregated insights and public summaries that help inform education initiatives, community conversations, and responsible engagement with AI across Aotearoa.

Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary.

Information collected

This survey collects general opinion and contextual information only, such as:

  • sentiment towards AI

  • general AI usage

  • broad contextual information (for example industry or region)

The survey does not collect personally identifiable information, such as:

  • names

  • email addresses

  • phone numbers

  • exact personal location

  • any information that directly identifies an individual

Survey responses are submitted anonymously.

How the information is used

Responses are analysed in aggregated form only. Individual responses are not identifiable.

The aggregated insights may be used by The AI Assembly® to:

  • share national sentiment insights about AI

  • inform community education initiatives and events

  • support responsible AI adoption across New Zealand

  • contribute to public discussions, research, and learning about AI in Aotearoa

No individual survey response will be publicly attributed to any person. Survey results may be presented in reports, presentations, or public insights produced by The AI Assembly®, but only in aggregated form.

This website uses analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to help us understand general website usage and improve the survey experience.

These tools may collect limited technical information such as:

  • browser type

  • device type

  • approximate geographic location

  • anonymised IP information

  • website interaction data

This information is used only to understand overall website usage and improve the survey platform.
